Velvet

Velvet is one of the oldest fabrics in the world, created in the East and popularized in Europe, back in the early 13th century — which was also the beginning of the Middle Ages. In the 15th century, English King Henry IV forbade non-nobles to wear the fabric. Thus, velvet has maintained, through the centuries, an image of wealth and sophistication. But in the 20th century, more precisely in the 70s, the counterculture movement wanted to subvert and, like paisley, velvet became popular.
